Bread

So one day I was feeling adventurous, and decided to attempt bread. I was so nervous. Thankfully it turned out great! I had just finished up a batch of strawberry jam. It worked out perfectly. The girls loved it, and Jeff was impressed. I thought I should document this, because who knows when it will happen again!
                                                 Tasting the bread..............
                                           She likes it!
                                          Giving it a try......
I think that is a yes
Sadie likes to dig in the trash.......

15 weeks and already an angel....

*disclosure, this is to tell family what happened. It is detailed and real

June 20,2012- Had a long day, and at the end I had some contractions. I went home, and thought I over did it. I put my feet up, and they stopped

June 25,2012- Felt okay, but had some pretty heavy discharge. I knew that was not right, and decided to go to the doctor first thing in the morning.Went to friends house. Girls were playing with my phone, ended up leaving my phone at friends house

June 26,2012- Went to friend's house to pick up phone. My friend was at work, and her husband was going to give me my phone. The phone he gave me was my phone....but it is a toy phone for the kids. It was no use in calling it due to it having a 15 min battery life, I knew it was dead.
Due to not having a phone I decided to just go in, and see the doctor. I had a feeling something was not right, and I should be checked out. The lady at the front said to wait until they could get me back. So I did typical mom things. I played with the girls, and sat anxiously waiting to hear everything was okay. I was called back, Dr. Thompson said he would like to do a urine test. He said with urinary track infections contractions and discharge are symptoms. I felt relief. I was so hoping that was the case. The results came back, and everything looked good. The doctor had me lay down, I still had Sydney, and Sadie. They were okay, but Sadie did not like that I was not letting her crawl on the ground. Dr Thompson proceeded to do an ultra sound. Pretty much right away I knew it was not good. Although it took him a second to admit it. I could tell by the way he was searching. Sadie by this point was fussing, and Sydney was running around the room. He said "Amanda I am worried, I am not seeing any heart action". In my head I knew, but my heart had hope that suddenly it would appear. I did not say much the first time. So the second time he said "Amanda serious I do not see anything". I think having the girl's with me was a blessing. It took the severity of the situation, and made it easier. I did not have to fully focus on the fact that my baby was no more. Because the two other were with me, and being crazy kids. I just nodded and said "I knew it". My doctor is so sweet, and immediately jumped into action. He called in his assistant, and had her take the girls. He than told me he would like to have a official ultra sound done. He said he knew of a Dr, that would take me. He than had his nurse call, and arrange for me to come in that afternoon. Doctor Thompson said he was so sorry, and this was really hard. He let me know due to the babies size medicine was not an option. We would have to do a D and C. He said they would most likely do it that day. As we were leaving the sweet girl at the front asked "is everything okay?" This is the first time I lost it. I just said we lost it. The walk to my car was FOREVER! I felt as though everyone was starring at me, and wondering why I was crying. Thankfully Sydney was such a good girl, and went right to the car. I got the girl's in. I wanted to call Jeff, but due to the fact of being  phone-less I had to think of the next best thing. Payphone.....I wondered if those even existed. Thankfully the first gas station I tried had one. I called Jeff, and left a message. I waited, and called again. He answered, and said he had gotten the message. I went into a bit more detail, and let him know I had an appt at 2:10 for a ultra sound. We agreed ed to have me go to Grandma Robert's house, and wait. The problem  was, this was right during the girl's nap time. Grandma Robert's does have a crib, but I did not bring the pack-n-play. We figured we would just work it out. The girl's were hungry, so we went and grabbed lunch. I was amazed at how calm I was. I think just having Sydney, and Sadie to focus on it made it easier to not dwell on the truth. After lunch we went to Grandma Robert's house. It was hard having to actually voice that my baby was gone. I lost it. Thankfully she was so sweet, and just supported me. The girls love being at that house, and they found things to do right away. Jeff's mom called me, and told me she was on here way. I am so lucky to have her. We decided she would come get the girl's and take them back to her place, and they could nap. Jeff came home, and Grandpa Robert's and Jeff gave me a beautiful blessing. I felt calm, and at peace. We headed to the appointment.
Doctor Ott introduced himself, and said he was sorry for the circumstance. Jeff and I were taken in to a ultra sound room. Even though I knew the truth. I had a tiny bit of hope that the heart beat would appear, and it would be just a fluke. Immediately the Dr, and his assistant confirmed my fear, the baby had no heart beat. He went on to say the baby had a tumor/growth on the back of the neck. He said this was a good sign. This meant nothing too unusual happened, and that no matter what the baby passing was inevitable. When the baby was developing this just happened, and because of how small the baby was Dr. Thompson was unable to see it. Dr. Ott said Jeff and I had some options. Due to the size of a baby taking the baby out was obvious, but the choice was how. We could do a D and C, or I could have medicine put into my cervix to have the cervix contract, and deliver the baby. The problem with the D and C was due to the size it was most likely I would have to go in twice to have ( I hate thinking of this) the baby "scraped" out. With the other option I would only have to do it once, but it could be a long procedure. Right away I knew the second option was the right one for me. I wanted to see my babies body, and to know he was...
The Doctor told us we were on a list, and would be called at sometime that evening. As we were walking out I could not help, but to think of all of the people waiting to see there sweet babies. It was a hard reality knowing mine had to return home.

June 27, 2012
we  received the phone call to come in around 11pm. We were blessed to have Jeff's mom there, we were able to leave the girls home sleeping. I was able to pack, and water the plant's before we left. Jeff laughed at me, and told me not to do it, but  I really want tomatoes!! So we headed to the hospital and were greeted by the sweetest nurse. She led me back to this AMAZING room. So I figure the way to get a nice room is to have a complication or be famous. Jeff was way excited he had an actual couch to sleep on. We were as comfortable as we could be.I changed into the lovely hospital gown, and said a quiet good bye to my belly. The nurse started me on an IV with some fluid. She let us know Dr. Ott would be in shortly to start the medicine. Jeff and I were able to sit down, and relax. We discussed a lot of things, and were so blessed for this time. Dr. Ott came in and started the first dose. As I lied back for the medicine to be inserted, I realized I had dirt on my toes!!! Jeff just laughed at me. So much for showering, and trying to get squeaky clean! Dr. Ott said I would get a dose every 6 hours, and for now it was waiting time. So everyone left, and Jeff and I were actually able to sleep. For me it was more dosing. I woke up at 430am and felt the infamous pop. My water broke. I sat and cried. Not really ready for what was to come. I called the nurse, and she came and helped me. I was checked, and not dilated. So she said this was progress, but it could still be a while. I asked if I could get up and got to the bathroom. I did, but as I was standing up I felt pressure. Than I felt something fall out. In my head I thought "that is just a blood clot" but before I wiped I looked. It is a good thing I did. What I saw was a mouth, arms, and legs. I started shouting for Jeff, but thankfully the nurse was still there. She ran in, and immediately started looking in the toilet. I let her know it was still in-between my legs. Sure enough our sweet baby boy was still there, literally holding on by a thread that was the umbilical cord. The nurse walked me to my bed, and called the Dr. I was a little shaken up, but I could not believe how quick it came. The Dr. came and delivered the rest of our baby. He let me know that the placenta unfortunately had not come out. The fear was that it would cling to my uterus wall, and not come on it's on. So they would have to do a D and C. I thought to myself, I am not doing this again. Thankfully they asked if they could start patocin, to have me contract in hopes my placenta would release. So patocin started. The nurse kept asking me if I wanted medicine, but I declined. I wanted to feel everything. I wanted to know he was real. While we waited Jeff and I were left with our son. I got to hold him, and he was so little. His legs were crossed, and his hands were on his face. We could tell right away this was our little man. So if we do not have a boy here on this earth, we know there will be one waiting. The spirit was so sweet, and Jeff  and I just soaked in this moment. Those moments will forever be frozen in my heart. The Dr. came back in and I pushed a few times, and out came the placenta! It was a miracle, an absolute blessing. . Everyone was so respectful, and Jeff and I were able to just soak in this moment.
In the morning Jeff left for work. I decided I still needed some time to recover and deal with this loss before returning home to the girls. So I stayed, slept, and had an oreo shake. Jeff came and got me at 1 pm. This nurse presented us with a box. Inside was a little hat, and an amazing blanket. We got a card that had his birth weight and length. I had a hard time not being able to wrap my baby boy in it. As we left, it was hard. We were leaving with more than we had come with. But not with my little boy.
I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father for the peace and love that he has given me. I am thankful for the still small voice, that prompted me to go in. I know My Father in Heaven knows me, and my family. I know he has a plan. I am thankful for the priesthood, and my husband. I could not have done it without Jeff. He is such an amazing man.

My sweet baby boy,
today is a day a special day. You came to me today, though you had to leave. You graced us with your presence. So tiny and pure. The body was made was imperfect unlike you.
You could not dwell so you had to leave. May we meet again in this life or the next, I will tell you just how much we love you. I was blessed to feel you softly flutter. In a way I see that as you message to me...that you were, and now will always be in my heart. Go, and play with your cousins above, and know we are anxiously awaiting our turn. You will always be our little boy

Aventures at the ER

This little gown, was not Sydney's favorite. The only way I got her to leave it on was by putting on her shoes. She made sure that when every doctor/nurse came in saw her shoes. I think she knew it was not the cutest thing!

So Saturday morning, Sydney woke up crying. Which is super unusual for her. I just thought to myself "this is going to be a long day". I went and grabbed her, and set her down in her chair to eat. She usually will climb in, and buckle herself. Instead she cried, and waited until I set her in. I went and made her breakfast, but sitting on the table was chips. I knew it would be a fight to trade her toast for chips, but instead she not only gave me the bag of chips. Sydney actually gave me the chips she had pulled out of the bag. That is when I started to realize something was not quite right. She than wanted down, and had not even touched her breakfast. I took her out, and turned on a movie. She just cried, and if Sadie would come any where near her she would lose it! So I went, and gave her to Jeff. Sadie, and I were playing in the family room, but I could her Sydney crying with Jeff. After about an hour. I went to go see if I could help. Jeff said Sydney's stomach was spasming, and she was in a ton of pain. All over she was really hot. Jeff, and I decided I better take her in. On the ride down Sydney continued to scream. I felt so helpless. She finally stopped crying, and I reached back to hold her hand. I noticed that her eyes were rolled back, and her breathing was not consistent. I immediately called 911. They asked if I would like an ambulance, but we decided by the time they got to me I could already be at the ER. So the dispatcher called the ER, and let them know we were on our way. We walked in, and were seen right away. Sydney kept on crying. The nurse was taking all of her vitals, and commented on how warm Sydney was. When she took her temperature, we were both surprised she did not have a fever. The nurse was so nice, and told me she was going to have to do a rectal temp. I am so glad she took the time to really care. Sure enough Sydney did have a temperature. We then had to wait to be seen by the doctor. Sydney was really calm, but super out of it. She looked very pale, and I was so nervous. The doctor came in, and started going over her symptoms. He asked me to push on Sydney's belly. I did that, and she freaked out. The doctor said between the fever, her coloring, and the tenderness in her stomach he wanted to do some test. Again I was so grateful not to just be looked at like I was just paranoid. The doctor was very thorough, and made me feel as though I had every right to be concerned. During, this time I was able to keep Jeff updated. Unfortunately my phone died moments after talking to the doctor. Thankfully the hospital had a phone I could use. The doctor told me Sydney would need to get an IV, urine sample, and a cat scan. He made it seem super easy, so I thought I could do it without Jeff. The nurse's came in, and told me in order to get a urine sample they would need to do a partial catheters. In my head I was freaking out. I know how painful those are, having to have one in labor. They assured me it would be easy, and Sydney would be fine. The nurse told me to hold her arm, and just comfort her. Well that game plan changed real quick. Sydney FREAKED out! She was kicking and screaming. They called for another nurse to come help. So there were 5 of us holding down a 2 yr old. I was amazed at the fight she put up. Unfortunately she was way to tense to be able to put the catheters in. So they said well lets try the IV. By this point I am on the verge of freaking out. I called Jeff, and asked if he could take Sadie somewhere, and come help. I knew the IV would be just as bad, if not worse. The nurse said if she peed in this pan they would not have to do a catheters. Sydney now will tell me when she was to pee if she does not have a diaper on. So I asked the nurse if we could just leave her diaper off. The nurse agreed. We went ahead and started to prep for the IV. When it was time, we all tried to hold her down. Again, she was not having it. Just as the nurse had inserted the needle, Sydney started freaking out, and saying "diaper diaper". I knew there was no way we could catch her pee. I felt so bad. She was probably so confused as to why I let her pee all over herself. After the IV the nurse had to tape Sydney's hand, and arm to a board. She was trying so hard to shake the IV off. After this the nurse's decided to give Sydney a break. They said they would come back in a bit to do the rest. I held Sydney, and she just cuddled me. My heart was broken. Unfortunately I had to make Sydney drink a drink for the cat-scan. I had a bottle in my purse, and Sydney is done with bottle's. So I thought she would love drinking it from a bottle. I was wrong. She took one sip, and said caca. I had to make her drink 8 ounces of that stuff. So I unscrewed the top, and had to hold her head back, and force feed her. It was so sad. Thinking back, I am not sure why she still loves me. The entire time she was screaming "CACA CACA". The doctor came in, and asked me how I felt about a slight sedation. At this point I was so emotionally drained, I jumped at the idea. So while Sydney, and I waited for the sedatives. Sydney just held me, and slept. When the doctors came in, I layed Sydney on the bed. She barely woke up, but she look at me half asleep, shook her head, and said "no no caca caca". Poor little girl! It was so good to see her calm. Every once and a while she her eyes would start searching the room, and I could tell she was looking for me. She would see me, and totally relax. That made my day. She is such an angel. The doctor wheeled her away for the cat scan, and I just waited. I had time to pray, and think how blessed I have been for such healthy babies. I could not imagine having to do the hospital almost daily. Sydney came back in, and was some what awake. She smiled at me, and just looked so peaceful. Of course this is when Jeff showed up!! Haha, to his defense he had been running around all morning trying to figure somewhere for Sadie to go. When Sydney saw her dad, her eyes lit up. She was trying to tell him all about it. He is such a good dad. I loved that moment. The love he has for our girl's is so tender. We waited, and finally the doctor came. He said he had nothing but good news. He said everything looked great. Even her white blood cells were right on. He was still a little thrown off by her fever, and told us to keep an eye on that. He said he does not think it is her appendix, but he wants us to check up with that. I was so relieved! He did say she had a bowel movement that was needing to come out. So he said he would give her a suppository to help it along. Jeff, and I are so grateful for our sweet little Sydney. I learned how much our little girl is a fighter, and how tough she is. At the end she said thank you, and bye to everyone! We went to go get Sadie, and we got the best welcome. She was at the end of the hall, and saw us. She screamed "DADA MAMA", and with the help of grams she ran to us. I had to hold back tears. The joy these little girl's bring to my life is indescribable. They are my world. I thank Heavenly Father for them daily. It was quite the day, and I hope to not have to repeat it for quite some time!

Trouble In Paradise

Okay, so I hope that no body gets the wrong impression from this post. I love my daughter I really really do. I am just finally having a break down. Sadie is almost a year old, and she is still an extremely hard baby. Thankfully for those who have watched her, she has been good. Than again, it makes me wonder, even more why she acts this way with me. People have said, "you just need to put her down so she can cry it out". Trust me I have done this....always. There have been days when she will literally cry for hours at a time, because I have to get things done. She really will cry for hours. No exaggeration. You would think after a while her throat would start to hurt, or that she would realize she is fine. Yet, she does not. Instead she just goes on and on, and on. We thought it would get better when she started crawling, but that has not happened. Instead of being content crawling around, she just follows me and cries. So in Some aspects it is even harder. Where I could get a moment of peace before, that is harder to get. Sadie will crawl into the room, I am in sit down, rock, and cry. Food will sometimes calm her down. That unfortunately is not always the case. I was so blessed with Sydney. She was such an easy baby. I think that has been the hardest part. I have done nothing different, so I am confused as to why Sadie is this way. Sadie will cry until I hold her, and the moment I do if I sit down she freaks out. Her crying literally takes everything out of me. My housework, and being a good wife has gone down hill. By the time I have a minute without her, I just want to relax. Doing household chores is that much harder with a screaming child. Doing things one handed is fine, but it takes 10x longer. Jeff can be so patient with her. But I don't think he fully gets the extent of the toll her crying does to me. It is sad, but Sydney will now tell Sadie to stop crying. She even gets annoyed with it. I am so lucky to have a healthy baby. I love that I can make everything better. But lately it has been especially hard. Has anyone ever experienced this? Any tips on how to deal with this better. I know I can handle this, I have been doing it since the nurses handed her to me. The nurses even said " you have a princess on your hands". I guess I should have headed the warning, but I guess I was holding onto hope that was not the case. I love Sadie so much, and I want to be the best mom I can. I need to figure out how to handle this better. Any tips would be much appreciated!! Sadie does have her good days, but those seem to come few and in between.

My Baby is two

Sydney has hit to big 2!!!! It is pretty crazy to think she is 2. She is such a beautiful little girl. We had a birthday party the saturday after her actual birthday, but I wanted to make sure her birthday was special. She woke up to me singing happy birthday, and her favorite breakfast. Than we went to lunch with one of her bestest buds, Owen. At one of her favorite places, McDonald's. They had a blast, and she loved every minute of it. After lunch we went out to grandmas, Sydney did not want to take a nap. So I allowed it. Instead she watched Cinderella and ate popcorn in her crib. We than had her favorite dinner, ate cake, and opened presents. Her day was very special, just like her.
Her actual Birthday party was also a blast. We had friends come, and help us celebrate. We ate yummy food and just hung out. I had checked the weather forecast for that day, and it said sunny. So I planned activity's outside....well when I woke up, I found we were in the middle of a blizzard!! I panicked, and just about called off the party. The last thing I wanted, was for someone to get hurt coming to our place. Thankfully, it cleared up.... a bit. Everyone was troopers, and still showed. Sydney was spoiled and got such nice gifts. The theme was word world, it is Sydney's favorite t.v show. My good friend is AMAZING at making cakes. All of the characters on top of the cake are hand made. Not only is the cake freaking awesome, it tastes just as good. The fondant is not the nasty store bought kind, she actually goes the extra mile and makes it from scratch. I am certain in time she will be famous, so if you are looking for an original, affordable cake, by someone who will one day be a big deal let me know. She can do anything. Her name is Lindsy Tipa and her blog is http://nephiandlindsy.blogspot.com/ on there she has posted a few of her other cakes.
We got Sydney a bike for her birthday, and she totally loves it. She has a little bit of learning to do, but she is loving the idea.

Easter

This year Easter was tons of fun. Sydney, actually got the concept. Sadie on the other hand loves anything that has to do with food. So she was thrilled. We had the opportunity to have 3 Easter egg hunts. One we did on Friday morning at a car dealership with some friends. I somehow forgot my camera, so I did not get any pictures. On the way home I noticed signs for a Easter egg hunt, near our house the next morning. So The next morning we got up bright and early, and grandma was so nice to come. We made a super decision going to that Easter egg hunt! It was so much fun. At the Easter egg hunt they had the grass area sectioned off for egg groups. Well in Sydney and Sadie's age group there was literally only 4 kids! Sydney had practice the day before so she was ready to go. Sydney got so into it, and ended up getting like 30 eggs. Most of the eggs were filled with candy, but a few had numbers in them. If you got one like that, you got a prize. Sydney got two! Sadie also had a blast. Grandma would lift her down to the egg, and Sadie would pick them up and put them in the basket! It was adorable. On Sunday morning we did a mini egg hunt, and just hung out as family. Sydney and Sadie are so cute. We went to church at 1, and that is hard. It is right during nap time, so the girls are anything but bundles of joy! By the end it gets ugly. As you can tell by the pictures Sydney was DONE! But we loaded them back in the car, and went to Grandma Roberts house for a yummy Easter dinner. Sydney loves being at her house. I love Easter, and I am so thankful for the knowledge that our Savior lives! I love that I can pass this wonderful news onto my children.

Sadie loved grandmas help, and Sydney loved the eggs

Sadie was very protective over her basket....and Sydney was loving putting confetti on Sadie's Head

Like I said 1 o clock church is hard, and Sydney was not up for the pictures I wanted to take....so she ran away...to grandmas house ( I guess she forgot they went home that morning)

so sadie and I took some pictures, and Sadie completed eating the grass

Sadie 10 Months

I know that every parent insists there is not a favorite month....BUT 10 months has for sure been my favorite! This month Sadie has really blossomed. She is just so much fun. She officially started crawling this month, but has convinced herself that I do not know. Because when I catch her in the act she hurries and assumes the sit up position and begins rocking. She says more, and ya. It usually goes like this
Me- "Sadie are you hungry"
Sadie- "ya"
Me- "Sadie would you like more"
Sadie- "MORE"(Hands clapping and head nodding)
Her favorite thing in the morning to do is if dad is still home, to go see him and point at him and say "dad"
I have no clue where she got the pointing thing from. It can be really funny or really awkward. Funny when she is doing it to dad. Awkward when she is doing it to the least sociable old man in the grocery store. The other night we were walkin inside, and the entire time she was just pointing at the moon. She was fascinated with it. oh man I love this spoiled little girl! Also she got to have her pictures taken.
